Netflix + TikTok partner for billboard takeover in Times Square

Netflix, with the help of Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, brought love to the streets of Manhattan to celebrate the platform’s film Your Place or Mine, which was released on Friday, February 10th.

Netflix’s Your Place or Mine launched an exclusive TikTok campaign that encouraged audiences to shoot their shot with their crush.  In this partnership with TikTok, Netflix pulled fans’ TikTok submissions into Netflix’s New York Times Square billboard, making this campaign the first ‘live’ TikTok billboard takeover for 24 hours.
The campaign launched on Reese’s TikTok with a custom message from Reese and Ashton, and came to a close with an incredibly sweet and emotional surprise proposal in Times Square. 

The campaign, Tell Them You Love Them, garnered over 30 million views, and had a grand closure with a IRL surprise proposal.

The rom-com centers around two best friends who swap houses for a week and discover what they think they want might not be what they really need. It is in the spirit of love and Valentine’s Day that the stars announced a promotion on both Reese’s and Netflix TikTok channels.  Ashton and Reese invited followers to make a grand gesture (using hashtag #yourplaceormine) to profess feelings for their crush.
